Where the "3-month" rumor came from

The original source is GamesBeat, 13 October 2026. Its article "Grand Theft Auto VI's PC release is slated for Q1 2027" says Rockstar "plans to release the PC version of Grand Theft Auto VI within the first three months of 2027." GamesBeat attributes this to "four industry sources familiar with the studio's plans, all of whom requested anonymity." The outlet adds that a Rockstar representative "did not respond to a request for comment," and that the PC build "will have to pass the same quality bar as the console version" before it ships.

The phrase "first three months of 2027" probably became "three months after console" as the story spread. GamesBeat did not claim a three-month gap. It named a calendar quarter.

Pickup the same day:

  • PC Gamer (Andy Chalk) called the claim "surprising." Earlier in 2026, PC Gamer had predicted no PC version before November 2027. The article notes that Take-Two's next quarterly report is on 9 November, a possible point for confirmation, and says the writer is "taking all of this with a grain of salt."
  • Polygon repeated the GamesBeat sourcing and noted that Rockstar "has not officially commented." It also said Rockstar's recent modding guidelines have given PC players "further hope."
  • Tom's Hardware and GTA BOOM both framed it as a report that Rockstar has not confirmed.

We could not find an earlier named leaker or insider who made a specific "three months after console" claim before GamesBeat. Every outlet we checked traces back to that one report. Reddit, X, and Korean community threads that repeat the figure are reshares of it, not separate sources.
